To preserve their Korean heritage after coming to the US, the pioneers of the early Korean-American community established the Los Angeles Korean Festival Foundation in 1974. The Los Angeles Korean Festival Foundation is one of the leading proponents of advancing awareness of Korean culture and customs in the wonderful city of Los Angeles, where numerous distinct civilizations coexist. In order to fulfill its mission of offering the community a festival that is an instrument of inclusivity and an advocate of cultural diversity awareness, the LAKF Foundation organizes the four-day event year-round. This not only preserves Korean cultural heritage but also unites the various ethnic groups that call Los Angeles home.
